Great post, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it! Two of the things I have planned this year is to take my oldest fishing AND to try and catch a species of fish that I haven't caught before, (wanna take a run at trout or carp) Maybe accomplish both in one day! lol

I was being a bit cheeky but evidently it sometimes pays. That really is very kind of you.

I am sorry I am a bit late acknowledging your comment but I was moving lock stock and barrel down to my new place by the river and the sea so was offline for quite a while. I arrived just in time to catch the big blow which was very exciting!

This last week alone, over a dozen tarpon, all between 80-100 kgs have been hooked.

I remember reading an article about caviar a long time ago (pre-internet, or nearly) detailing the various types of fish roe that were edible by humans; as the supply of sturgeon around the world decreases, it might become necessary to rely on roe from other fish species. The roe of some species, such as gar, is actually poisonous to humans; a family from Arkansas found this out the hard way in 2010, it was in the newspapers at the time.
