Update: Bear Illegally Shot

© 2009 Albert A Rasch

After yesterday's report on the illegal killing of a bear in Gulf County Florida, I was reminded that good journalism requires one to do his fact checking.

This morning I called on Investigator Steve Thomas for clarification and confirmation.

Investigator Thomas told me that the bear was indeed shot outdoors, on Mr. Colson's lease, under a feeder. Investigator Thomas clarified that there were no extenuating circumstances; it was an indeed an illegal act.

  3. My Mema always said to me, "You made yer' bed boy, now go and lay in it!"

Mr. Colson surely has done just that.

The reason that I questioned the investigators and the press facts Albert, is because a Federally protected animal usually has a couple of clauses in the wording that protects us from prosecution.

One is the McFearson Law which allows us to shoot a Fed. protected animal if it is depredating our livestock.
The other is the Encounter Law which allows us to kill a Fed. protected animal when defending life or limb.

Apparently Mr. Colson is just simply a SH*% Head!
My cousin who knows him there, says pretty much the same and she is not the type person who says anything bad about anybody!
