It's All Fun and Games,
Until Someone Loses an Eye!

Everything is just peachy here in jolly Afghanistan! Luckily for me, I have friends that send me interesting bits of informaion to share with all of you and to keep me entertained. I appreciate the note Tom!

Check out this monster buck:

It looks to me like he got into a heck of a brawl with another whitetail buck and lost an eye! Where ever that is, the bucks must be in full rut, just look at his neck.

If you click on the pictures, they should pop up much larger.

Some of the comments that were forwarded with the pictures thought that it might be an abnormal growth.

I don't know... Does that look like it might be the right rack of a drop tine? But on the other hand, there doesn't appear to be any infection, dried blood, or any stuff that would indicate that he was skewred by another deer.

What do you think?

  1. Damn, that looks like it musta hurt!

Totally looks to me like he got skewered by another deer quite some time ago and managed to keep going despite the obvious handicap.

    Man, animals are tough.

  2. Definitely another buck's headgear. I posed the same question to a few of my friends when I saw these photos last week. Everyone agreed that it wasn't a growth, but a nasty, penetrating wound that had to hurt like hell, but like Holly says, they are tough. They seem to fight infection extremely well.

  4. Not sure what's going on with the eye (maybe he just wanted to be a pirate) but man, that is one serious deer!

  6. Beautiful buck! I'm jealous at best of that rack. And it sure does look like he got a rack in the eye. But hey, you got two for the price of one! Great job and thanks for sharing! Happy Hunting!

  7. That is probably the wierdest thing I have never seen. I have seen them locked together and dead but never with a rack stuck in the eye. Very interesting post and hope to see more. Happy hunting.
